THE SCENE

PURPOSE: To organize and expand visualization potentials

APPARATUS: None

METHOD:

Instruct child:

1. Close your eyes and try to picture in your mind a scene of your own choice.

2. Assistant may suggest scenes to the patient.

3. Attempt to see the whole scene simultaneously as you shift your attention from one aspect of it to another.

4. Attempt to see all areas of the scene clearly, especially the near and far aspects of it.

5. Attempt to feel and hear the actions involved in the scene, such as:

a. the wind through the trees, your hair, etc.

b. your movements through the scene, or your actions in the scene

c. the sounds of the birds, vehicles, airplanes, etc.

ASPECTS TO BE EMPHASIZED:

1. Awareness of more and more of the scene simultaneously –like a panorama.

2. Awareness of clarity of detail throughout the scene.

3. Awareness of participation and sensation within the scene.
