Super Swing

Purpose: To improve relaxation of oculo-motor muscles

Apparatus: None needed

Method:

1. Starting position–stand in good posture looking straight ahead.  Feet should be approximately one foot apart with toes pointing straight ahead, arms should be raised with elbows extended out to the sides and fingers pointing towards each other at chest level.

2. Move right hand out to the side as far as possible rotating the upper torso as you breathe in deeply, slowly and effortlessly through the nose.  At the same time, eyes should be directed toward the right shoulder.

3. Slowly return to the starting position.  After you have completed this movement, exhale through the nose taking caution to exhale only when the body is not in motion.

4. Repeat this same procedure for the left side looking at the left shoulder.

5. This same procedure should be used alternating from right side to left side looking first at each shoulder for several times, then at each elbow, then at each wrist, and finally at the fingertips of each hand.

Aspects to be Emphasized:

1. Ability to inhale and exhale deeply through nose.

2. Ability to sequence the breathing pattern from one side to the other.

3. Ability to look quickly and accurately at appropriate body parts alternately from one side to the other while inhaling during the movement and exhaling while still.
