180 Chalkboard Directionality Fixations

 

 

Purpose: To develop VSA skills, directionality, and bilateral control under a controlled stress condition.

Material: Download and print the attached document. Walking rail (a simple 2×4 is perfect). Paper, pencils, tape, or blackboard/chalk, whiteboard/markers.

 

Method/Approach:

  • • Follow the general directions in the attached document.
  • • Load the activity by having the child walk backwards, or while holding the arms in different positions (like one down, the other out to the side), or while doing some repetitive task like clapping hands while arms stretched straight out ahead.
