Map Making

PURPOSE: To enhance the visualization of spatial relationships

APPARATUS: Chalkboard, paper and pencil

METHOD:

1. The patient s asked to visualize a familiar room, house, area, neighborhood, route and draw an outline or map of the visualized area.

2. Have the patient describe the map or outline, especially using the information which cannot be represented in a map or outline, (i.e., who lives in a house, color of items, textures, who uses certain items, experiences enjoyed in mapped areas, etc.)

ASPECTS TO BE EMPHASIZED:

1. Appropriate distance, size, position, shape, and directional relationships on the map or outline.
