Treasure Hunt
PURPOSE: To develop the ability to visualize spatial relationships
APPARATUS: Chalkboard, paper and pencil
METHOD:
1. Prepare an outline diagram or a map of a familiar room, or outdoor area.
2. After hiding a “treasure” within the room, mark its location of the map with an “X.”
3. The patient is then to try to locate the treasure.
4. The map can be drawn on the chalkboard or on paper. Work with both.
5. The patient should also be permitted to hide the treasure, and mark its location on the map for the assistant to find.
6. As performance improves, the maps can be made more complex.
ASPECTS TO BE EMPHASIZED:
1. Ability to related the diagram with the room it represents.
2. Ability to take direction from the “X” and relate it to the room.
